Roller Skating At The High Line

29 Jul

What used to be this:

Is now this:

Here from the High Line’s website are some details:

Open for a limited time this summer, from Thursday, July 28 to Monday, September 26, the High Line Rink is one of the only open-air rollerskating venues in Manhattan, with regularly scheduled theme nights and other fun public activities for visitors of all ages.”

The rink has very friendly helpers

and skates for rent (you can bring your own, too)

You can also rent a SkateMate – one of the best little inventions that I’ve seen in a while!

Why didn’t they have these when I was a kid and learning how to skate??

People were loving the new skating rink. Music was playing and skaters were skating.

High Line Rink

Sunday – Wednesday, 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM
Thursday – Saturday, 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM

Check it out! It’s there until the end of September. The beer garden and food trucks are still next door, underneath the High Line.

This wonderful High Line beckons, above and below…

    Hi Sallan,
we like to ask you if we could use your rollerskating pics for a non profit campaign in Europe. We fight for family roller places in each city as you can see on our video

It would be great if we could use your fantastic pics.

Hi Wolfi – I’m glad that you like the pictures, but that skating area was temporary and is no longer in existence. Because of this I do not wish for you to use the images but I appreciate you asking. All the best!
