The Ferry-Riding Pigeon Named Tony

19 Jul broke the story yesterday.

Tony The Pigeon has become famous.

According to the article, “A feral pigeon nicknamed Tony has been riding the New York Waterway ferry from Manhattan to Weehawken at the same time every day for three years.”

Here are some of the other quotes from the story:

From the Senior Deckhand on board: “Three years ago, this pigeon shows up and starts going through the cabin and eating crumbs. Next thing you know, he’s here every day at the exact same time. And he does more work cleaning than my partner.”

I’ll bet his partner was real happy to read that quote in the paper!

And here’s another great quote:

No doubt he’s a New Yorker. He never flies off in New Jersey. Now that’s an intelligent pigeon.”

He’s really smart and unique. He thinks he’s human. He’ll walk on and off the boat with the passengers. The passengers love him.”

Tony even now has his own Facebook page.

To quote The New York Post’s Cindy Adams: Only in New York, kids, only in New York.
