Memorial Day On The Intrepid

31 May

I went yesterday morning to Pier 84 on the Hudson River. It’s one of my favorite good-weather destinations. There is a restaurant with outdoor seating, a dog run, a water fountain play ground, lawns and tables by the water – lots of very nice ways to enjoy being outdoors.

It is also right next to The Intrepid.

When I got to the pier, The Intrepid was in the process of hosting its annual Memorial Day Ceremony.

I was able to witness the wreath laying in The Hudson River (see the wreath that is falling towards the water – center of picture)

and here are the remnants of the wreaths in the water

The military on board preparing for

the 3-volley rifle salute

The fly-over of military aircraft in the missing man formation

which we all watched very solemnly

Through it all, there was a long line of people waiting to tour The Intrepid

Thanks again to the sacrifices that the military and the military families make, have made, and will make.

xoxo,

SAllan

I heard the planes flying over the Hudson River.
    They were loud!

I will be willing to bet there was not a dry eye in the area. MOOSE
